Raging Dad

Dad of Divas has tagged me with an Internet meme, called Six Random Things.

Here are the rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write 6 random things about yourself.
4. Tag 6-ish people at the end of your post.
5. Let each person know he/she has been tagged.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

So, here it goes. Six random things about Raging Dad:

Random Thing #1: I am 1/256 black. I like to think that this is obvious, as in if you divided my body into 256 equal-sized parts, you’d notice right away just what part of me shows off my ethnicity. Yeah, you know what I’m talking about.

John C. Calhoun, my first cousin five times removed.

Random Thing #2: My great great great grandfather was first cousin to John C. Calhoun, the 7th vice president of the United States and rabid proponent of slavery and Southern secession. This is particularly ironic, because my GGGGF married a black woman (see Random Thing #1, she was from the Caribbean Islands and 1/8 black). Her name was Susan Caldwell, and she lived a long life–most of it as a widow–and was described in her obituary as “born with an implacable hatred of sham and was a venerator of everything that carried the insignia of true worth.” I love that story.

Random Thing #3: I loathe direct sunlight. I am like the Nosferatu, except that I won’t exactly wither and die when my flesh is touched by the light of the sun. Instead, I will bitch and moan until those around me want to wither and die.

Random Thing #4: I have been with the same woman, Raging Mom, since I was 16 years old. We were high school sweethearts (awwwww).

Random Thing #5: If money were no object and I could have a dream job or project, I would buy an old movie house to renovate, and I would turn it into a classy, old-school repertoire film house. Kinda like the Heights Theatre in Minneapolis. I would show classics, art and foreign films, local and student films, and I’d host festivals. It’d have an organ for pre-show music and silent movies, and ushers in classic uniforms to lead you to your seats.

Random Thing #6: I was a psychology major in college. Having gone into communications as a profession, I never imagined that I would use my degree as much as I do!
